Paul H Kirby

Composer, Conductor, Pianist, Organist

Dr. Paul H Kirby currently serves as organist at 7th Church of Christ, Scientist, New York City, and as Vice President of the Musicians Club of New York.  He has a distinguished career as a composer and conductor, having served as music director of the Houston Youth Symphony, Pasadena Philharmonic, Central Iowa Symphony, and Iowa State University Symphony.

In a collaboration with Dr. William G. Marx, he composed a one-man music drama The Night of the Secretary General, on texts from Dag Hammarskjöld’s Markings, that received two staged readings in New York City in 2017.  In 2019-22 he collaborated with Dean Kostos on the book and lyrics and wrote the music for The Boy Who Listened to Paintings, a musical play based on Mr. Kostos's memoir of the same title, which received a Zoom reading in 2021 and a fully staged premiere at Theater for the New City in February, 2024.

His Sonata for Trumpet and Piano and Piece for French Horn and Piano are published by Carl Fischer, Inc., and some of his religious songs are available for purchase at Watchfiremusic.com.

In the current pipeline are plans for a cabaret show featuring Dr. Kirby’s songbook, a performance of his Oratorio for Human Unity, and a continued commitment to composing new works.
